Due to the large number of talented performers responding to an audition call, the Joplin Little Theatre has announced that they have scheduled two showings of Yes, Virginia - The Musical. the first cast will perform on December 9 (7:30 p.m.), 11 (7:30 p.m.) and 12 (2:30 p.m.). The second cast will take the stage on December 10 (7:30 p.m.), 12 (7:30 p.m.) and 13 (2:30 p.m.).
This stage show with new songs by Macy's Emmy Award-winning songwriters, has been adapted from the animated special based on the story of Virginia O'Hanlon, who in 1897 was determined to find an answer to the question, "Does Santa Claus really exist?" Her letter to The New York Sun prompted one of the most famous newspaper editorials of all time, and inspired future generations to believe in the holiday spirit.
Also featured are nine singers who will perform a special pre-show selection of Christmas classics. They are Barry Arwood, Sam Burnside, Caleb Freeman, Andrew McGowan. Tanner Munson, Gary Roney, Greg Swartz, Marilyn Marshall-Six and Kylee Van Horn.
