Convention & Audubon center reports flood damage
January 08, 2016
To the editor:

On December 26th-28th, 2015, we witnessed historic flooding impact in the Four State Area. Shoal Creek, a tributary of Spring River that runs through Wildcat Park, shattered previous flood records of 18.81 feet by cresting at 23.4 feet.

This historic flood wreaked havoc on our trail system and recreational areas. Portions of the Woodland Loop Trail were destroyed, picnic tables were washed away, as well as numerous signs and kiosks. This area is essential to our educational programs, as well as the visitors who use our trails. We are still gathering cost estimates and are planning a public work day on February 6, 2016.

Thank you!
