Event planned honoring national motto
May 07, 2016

A special elongated cent has been created by Paul Conner of Paul Conner Studios, Belton, MO, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the signing of the national motto law by President Eisenhower on July 30, 1956, that placed In God We Trust on our currency. The artwork, pictured, was commissioned by Dave Sorrick of In God We Trust LLC for a day of celebration to be held on Saturday, Jul. 30, 2016, in the southwest Missouri community of Mindenmines.

I am humbled and honored to offer these unique collectibles in support of our national motto and to mark this day in Mindenmines, Sorrick said. We will make them available for our supporters and donors as we prepare for a day honoring God and country in our community. Paul Conner is well knownfor his creative smashed pennies, as he refers to them, and this design features an image of our flag, the motto, and the name of our small town. I love the artwork, he added.

The In God We Trust elongateds are offered by mail in advance of July 30, to contributors making a donation of $5 or more in support of the event. Donations may be sent to Sorrick at: In God We Trust Day, P.O Box 162, Mindenmines, MO 64769-0162. The remaining coins will be sold for $2 each on the day of the event. Sorrick may be contacted by calling (620) 423-6600 or by email here.
