This large piece of slate rested in a creek protected by a bridge above it. The slate squarish in shape could be seen through the years as hikers passed by. Terrible winds hit the area recently that caused the destruction of many trees. It is speculated that one tree about six feet away had fallen, cracked the slate into the form of an almost perfect Christian cross, but then afterwards had been pushed away by the force of water.
